  Please join JIL Editors for two free workshops designed to support your summer research and writing! 

  We present two free workshops facilitated by JIL editors, one designed for practitioners who are interested in starting or getting back into empirical research, another on finding your "academic voice" and practical guidance to structure an article. 

  These sessions are sponsored by the Journal of Information Literacy, which is an open-access journal that publishes innovative and challenging research articles and project reports that push the boundaries of information literacy thinking in theory, practice and method. We welcome submissions from librarians, scholars and practitioners alike!

• The Journal of Information Literacy is looking for a Statistician/Bibliometrician

  This role leads on publication and citation metrics for the Journal of Information Literacy (JIL). You would collate and analyse statistics from a range of sources that illustrates the performance of the journal and identify strategies for improving download and citation rates.

  JIL is an international, peer-reviewed, open access academic journal that aims to investigate information literacy (IL) within a wide range of settings. JIL is the journal of the CILIP Information Literacy group.

• Special Issue: Banned Words, Banned Knowledge: Information Literacy in a Censored Society

  The Journal of Information Literacy (JIL) welcomes submissions related to or exploring information literacy and terms that have been erased or banned by the US government. This includes but is not limited to the list of words published by PEN America in May 2025. Topics of interest may include information literacy research that was already underway when new restrictions came into place or which may now be impossible to publish; work explicitly exploring the impact of this clampdown on how information literacy is shaped or operationalised, as well as research exploring censorship in non-US contexts. 

  Deadline for full papers: 1^st June 2026 

  Special issue publication date: December 2026
